Though nowadays there is an ever growing amount of retail fonts avaiable, often a company or organization chooses to make use of a custom made typeface which is tailored to its specific demands.
Custom typefaces serve on several levels. First, it radiates the visual identity of a company or organization. Simply by using the typeface in all the visual communication such as annual reports, publications, powerpoint or pdf presentations, letters, invoices, estimates, emails or adds the identity of the company is promoted in a very consistent and affordable way.
But custom fonts serve also on a more practical level. The fonts can be designed to function properly on forms, to save space, be adapted to specific printing technologies or to support a variety of operating systems, software applications and languages.
At last, but no certainly not at least, custom typefaces can be a more affordable alternative to purchasing a license for a retail font to be used on a considerable amount of workstations.
